The Beer & Brewer Awards return with a live event at Mountain Culture Redfern

Good To Know

Beer & Brewer is thrilled to announce the return of the Beer & Brewer Awards for 2025 – and they’re back with another live celebration of Australia’s best and brightest in beer. In partnership with Sydney Beer Week, the awards will be held on Tuesday, 21 October, at Mountain Culture Brewery’s new Redfern venue.

After the resounding success of last year’s inaugural live ceremony, the Beer & Brewer Awards continue their mission to shine a light on the people, venues, and producers that make the Australian beer scene so dynamic – especially in a year where the industry has faced its fair share of challenges.

“This event is more than just an awards night,” said Deb Jackson, Commercial Manager of Beer & Brewer. “It’s a chance to come together, acknowledge the sheer talent and passion across our industry, and raise a glass to those who’ve raised the bar.”

Celebrating excellence in beer

Covering categories from Best Beer Venue and Best Beer Launch to Rising Star and Lifetime Achievement, the awards recognise excellence across the full spectrum of the industry. Last year saw standout winners like Bitter Phew take home Beer Venue of the Year, and One Drop Brewing’s Nick Calder-Scholes named Brewer of the Year.

“With so many ups and downs in the past year, we felt it was more important than ever to create space for positivity – to applaud the innovators and the people pushing boundaries with every pint poured,” Jackson said. “These awards are our opportunity to spotlight those who’ve not only weathered the storm but helped our whole industry move forward.”

Peter Anstey, Managing Director of Sydney Beer Week, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the driving force behind the event’s revival.

“With Sydney Beer Week, I really wanted to shine a light on the individuals, venues, and producers who give so much to this industry. When SBW took a break, and the Beer & Brewer awards stopped as well, I’d see other events interstate celebrating their local heroes – and it felt like something important was missing here.”

An exciting new venue for the awards

This year’s ceremony will take place at Mountain Culture Redfern, the brewery’s much-anticipated new taproom. Known for its innovative approach to craft and fiercely independent spirit, Mountain Culture is a fitting host for a night dedicated to the best in beer.

“This partnership with Sydney Beer Week has been key to building something special,” Jackson added. “To be able to gather in such an iconic venue, surrounded by the people who make this industry great, is what these awards are all about.”

Anstey added, “The partnership with Beer & Brewer made perfect sense. The awards are not about ego – they’re about recognising the people behind the craft. The brewers experimenting with unique ingredients, the venues championing great beer, the teams working behind the scenes, and those pushing sustainability and innovation in ways most people never even see.”

He also acknowledged the fresh talent emerging across the country.

“Breweries that didn’t exist a few years ago are now producing incredible beers that deserve to be recognised. Even in tough times, there’s so much happening in our industry that’s worth celebrating.”

For Anstey, bringing the live awards ceremony back is about more than just recognition – it’s about celebrating the heart and soul of the community.

“Bringing the awards back was about acknowledging that resilience, passion, and creativity that makes our beer culture what it is. We’re incredibly grateful to Beer & Brewer for helping make it happen.”

Come raise a glass with us as we celebrate the craft, the community, and the culture that continue to make Australian beer world-class.
