Mountain Culture seals Hottest 100 three-peat

Mountain Culture and its Status Quo Pale Ale has once again been named Australia’s best craft beer by around 55,000 craft beer consumers from across Australia, winning the GABS Hottest 100 poll for the third year in a row.

In the 17 years of the Hottest 100 poll, Mountain Culture Status Quo is only the second beer to secure a three-peat, Feral’s Hop Hog was named number one brew in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

This year’s poll saw nearly 1500 different beers from 70 different breweries make the list, as beer lovers celebrated the poll results in venues and breweries across the country.

Mountain Culture recently expanded its production facilities, helping take advantage of the waters in Penrith, NSW, which are a key part of the beer. The brewery also recently announced that Australian cricket captain, Pat Cummings has become an investor.

Taking out second place with the best performance Coopers Pale Ale. With over 150 years of making beer in South Australia, it’s a wonderful result by Australia’s oldest independent brewery.

Completing the podium is two-time previous champion and Gold Coast favourite, Balter’s XPA.

Coles Liquor General Manager of Customer Loyalty, Mia Horner congratulated the 70 breweries that have been represented in the Hottest 100, showcasing the nation’s best craft breweries.

“The fans have spoken and it’s no surprise Mountain Culture has taken the top spot as Australia’s most loved craft brew, known for its juicy smooth and very easy drinking style, the Status Quo Pale ale is an easy-drinking craft beer in making it a delicious option year-round.

“To taste the Hottest 100 winners, beer lovers can head to our national First Choice Liquor Market stores where more than 90 per cent of the beers can be found on our shelves across Australia. My own personal pick of the list is the Rocky Ridge Brewin Co Jinjong Juicy.”
