Co-founder Tim Fishwick has left Sydney brewery the White Bay Beer Co.
Fishwick (pictured above, front-centre) opened the brewery a little over a year ago with fellow co-founders Adam Trippe-Smith, the managing director of Konvoy Kegs, and Sydney publican Tim Condon (pictured in that order above, top right) in a former steelworks warehouse near the White Bay Power Station in Rozelle.
In that time Fishwick, who has previously worked for Balter and Little Creatures, had been the brewery’s predominant public face alongside head brewer Dennis De Boer. Despite navigating their first year through the pandemic they have established significant distribution through the likes of Vintage Cellars and BWS and a prominent tap presence in Sydney bars and further afield. As of tomorrow their much-awaited 14 tap taproom will open to the public in a soft launch as they put the finishing touches to it in the coming weeks.
When Beer & Brewer spoke with Fishwick today he confirmed he had left the brewery but added “under advice I’ll tell my story eventually but it won’t be happening today”.
When contacted yesterday by Beer & Brewer Trippe-Smith said Fishwick had left White Bay as of May 31 but didn’t offer any reasons why or, by the time this article was published, what financial arrangements would result from a co-founder departing the business.
Trippe-Smith also said yesterday that it was “onwards and upwards” for White Bay and that they were currently recruiting a NSW/ACT sales manager to “fill (Fishwick’s) shoes”. They are also advertising for a Sydney sales ambassador, a production brewer and hospitality staff for the taproom.
They have also recently announced they will be expanding their beer offering in the near future beyond their core range Union Lager and Sunny Pale Ale and their regular limited releases.
