Brew Day – Dark Ale 2 (easy, k&k with re-cultured yeast)

Beer Kit
My last attempt at making a dark ale was a complete failure so this time I’ve turned to Coopers recipe book in which they say “we reckon this recipe is a fairly close approximation to our commercial Dark Ale, particularly if fermented at 18C using the commercial yeast culture”. So that’s what I’ve done! The recipe is …

1.7kg Coopers Australian Pale Ale kit
750g Coopers dark LME
200g sugar (I used dextrose)
Re-cultured Coopers yeast (from pale ale)
23L

Oh yeah, the yeast process began three days before brewing – I forgot to mention that sorry
