A Cornelius, or Corny or Soda, keg is the ideal keg to use for homebrewers looking to achieve draught beer at home. Corny kegs are typically 5 gallons in size, versus the much larger commercial kegs, but also come is other sizes, such as 3 gallons. In this installment of the Basics of Home Brewing series, I show you all the pieces of a 5 gallon Cornelius keg, and briefly discuss what each piece is for. I also give a quick walkthrough of how a keg actually works and a couple of tips if you’re new at kegging your homebrew.
