Does Batch Size Impact Flavor? 5 Gallon vs. 1 Gallon Batch

Beer Kit
We are tasting differences between the same recipe scaled to a 5 gallon and 1 gallon batch sizes.

We do a lot of 1 gallon batches on this channel namely as part of our growing SMASH beer hop evaluation series. Question is, how do we know what we taste in a 1 gallon format scales up to the 5 gallon format if you wanted to repeat something we’ve done but at larger scales?

This week, Mike attempts to find any flavor and aroma differences in two batches of beer. John constructed a basic pale ale recipe with Cascade Hops and sized it for the two different size batches. He brewed each beer separately and on different days.

We plow into the methods and the taste differences in the video.

Cheers!
